XADataSource property in Oracle Apps Adapter

Environment background :

We were migrating from Oracle R11i to Oracle R12.2.5. We had to migrate Custom SOA Objects from R11i to R12.

We compiled all our SOA Objects on the destination environment.

Issue :

Some of our SOA Interfaces are AQ based.
DB Adapters and Oracle Apps Adapters are configured as part of our installation.

The following infrastructure was in place.
1. We had a Workflow Business event and the Generate function in the business event refers to a Oracle PL/SQL Packaged procedure
2.An Oracle Application Concurrent program raises the Business event mentioned in Step 1.
3. Raising a Business event in turn will call the Generate Function (Custom DB Package) that generates an XML

We noticed that Raise business event code was not firing but data was created in WF_BPEL_QTAB with no XML generated. Subscription was not being called as a result of which XML was not created from the custom package.

It turned out that when the APPS Adapter was configured, we had set XADataSource value as some dummy value and DataSourceValue correctly. Oracle SOA first checks XADataSource and then the DataSource property in the APPS adapter as a result of which the subscription was not being executed and the SOA composites were never called in turn.

Fix :
XADataSource was not needed for our installation and hence we blanked it out and everything worked like a charm.
